Well, this article is from a different location than usual. That's right, Norwich in Norfolk also known as Nelson's county.
You may ask why am I writing from a different location today well, me, mum and dad are on our holiday. That's right, we have left Lincolnshire to venture out and let our hair down. Why Norwich, well, we are using great Yarmouth as our base and checking out different locations and Norwich is a short drive from Great Yarmouth about 30 minutes by car.
What made us choose Norwich, well, my mum, also know as giddy grew up in Norwich as a young girl and wanted to show us where she used to live and where she went to school. Photo of both locations in the album below. I am very proud of my routes having my mums side coming from Norwich and the other half from Lincolnshire so I can blend into both counties without too much problem. I have more of a Norfolk twanger to my voice than Lincolnshire even though a mate from work thinks I sound like I am from Birmingham. I will treat that as a compliment lol. Honestly people think I sound like I'm from all over the place.
So we set off from our holiday accommodation in Great Yarmouth, but the weather was really bad so we changed our plans and headed to Norwich for a wonder around. We found a multi-story car park close to the city centre called St Andrews. I would highly recommend the car park as its a pay after park park meaning you can spend as long as you like with out having to worry about going back by a certain time. We got parked up and ventured towards the city centre. Mum was getting hungry so we stopped off at a little coffee Shop called the Alchemist. Really nice little place, drinks and cake were really good and the staff are really friendly. We then ventured a bit further on and came across the outdoor market taking in the sights as we approached the market. Norwich is such a beautiful city. Dad said its loads better than Peterborough or Lincoln and I agree. It has a certain charm about it that you don't get from the other two places. We had a wonder around the outdoor market. If you have never been, its not strictly an outdoor market as the passage ways between are covered over but its a delight to the senses with lots of stalls selling all sorts of stuff and a real diverse range of food. So we had a look around and dad stopped off at a chippy stall. Scampi and chips for £7 which I didn't think was too bad. Dad said it was really good. However, seating is a bit limited near the outdoor market when its busy as there is no where to sit down and eat in the outdoor market nor is there any toilets but some on the out skirts. So we took a sit down in the paved area near the city hall. Surrounded by pigeons and seagulls who were really interested in your food but was good.
We then ventured up the steps of the city hall with me guiding mum up the steps. We approached a more modern area with a film and tv Shop where you could buy memorabilia of favourite movie and tv shows. If you've not been i would highly recommend it, lots to see and do. Dad was really enjoying a look around. Next we ventured onto the home of BBC look east in a big glass building, the name escapes me. But lots in there to see and do and is also home to the city library and a Norwich City Football Shop selling Norwich City Football stuff. Had to be done but I treated myself to a new football shirt as its been some years since I've owned on. At £40 I don't think its too bad price wise. I got talking to a couple of people in the Shop and we shared our passion and outcome of Norwich City Football teams win which is always good news against my mate Dave's team. Onward and upwards canaries, Green army all the way lol.
After we had had a look round we decided to head back to the car and venture back to Great Yarmouth but what a fantastic visit to Norwich. First time since before the pandemic I have been and so worth it. If you've never been to Norwich then I highly recommend it and no, its not filled with people with web toes lol. But every one is really friendly easy a couple of days worth of stuff to do. So why not get your self down and have a fantastic time.
