Where do i start, i stumbled on this event without knowing about it, i decided to head into my local town to meet my Mum, Dad and mate mel, at a local church Christmas fate / market. The Spalding Methodist Church down broad street put a really good event on. They had refreshments, lots of Christmas trees all decorated by local schools and plenty of stalls inside the church hall to have a look around.
The real reason i decided to head up town was meeting a couple of mates, Andy, Matt and Ross for our local get together fry up at CJs cafe in Spalding. They do a full english breakfast for just shy of £9, proper greasy spoon, but the quality is really good. Would highly recommend them, un beknown to me, i had left the Methodist Church and walked through town to CJs, and there was a Christmas market on.
Well, what can i say, fantastic event, it was busy, lots of people getting into the festive season. There were stalls, things to do, live music, a brass band, hot food and refreshments all for free. The Rock School bus was there.
They even had pop up facilities should you get called short, i.e need the loo. One stall was selling Lego mini figures and others selling freshly baked goods to bars of fancy soap.
I am really pleased this event was on as it was good to see the town centre so busy and not just populated with the local pigeons. Kids could have their faces painted and on the main stage was a woman playing the violin, through to local schools singing Christmas songs, which really put you in the festive spirit. Even managed to get a cheeky photo of an Elf.
Would i go again?
The short answer is yes as this was a great event, plenty to look at and do, Great for people of all walks of life and families. I couldn't fault it, and being a free event and with in walking distance from home was a great event. Long may it continue.
Well done to all those people who organised this event.
