Bit of a different event, I attended with my mum & dad, our mate mel. This is the South Holland RC truckers.
What to expect from a RC Lorries event?
What a fantastic event, I had heard about it through another mate, John, who helps to run the village hall in Parsons Drove. Which is where this event took place. The event was put on by the South Holland RC Truckers who meet on a regular basis to share their passion for RC truckers.
The group, of all ages and demographics were there, promoting their fantastic hobby. I got talking to one of the women at the event, and there is a lot of work that goes into build RC lorries, so happens her and her dad decided not to build a RC lorry but a coach. What a fantastic coach it was and she and her dad had plans to add more to it, but I was astonished by the level of detail that goes into these RC models. For those of you who are reading this and wondering what does RC stand for its simply Radio Controlled.
We got to the event about 11:45 to see a full setup done complete with buildings and RC lorries driving around, some had lights and reversing sounds to them. There was a good turn out for the event and its so good to speak to people who are so passionate about their hobby and I would imagine not a cheap one as well but if you get enjoying out of it then that's the main thing.
I was speaking to the organiser of the South Holland RC Truckers and in the RC trucking world quite a new to the scene but he has been doing it for many years with other clubs. The event will be on each Sunday around the 1st Sunday of each month for the next 10 months or so at the Parsons Drove Village Hall.
Parsons Drove village hall is a short drive from the A16 around 20-30 minutes, there is ample parking at the village hall and good facilities in the hall from toilets to a kitchen where you can have a cup of tea.
The event itself was free to attend, and was really cool and I am sure the younger generation would love to attend the event as well as those AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lorries) bringing out the inner child in you.
There were also some stalls selling parts for RC lorries and even some complete lorry cabs you can buy. I would say the detail of the models were right up there, excellent paint jobs and all those little details that you would expect to find on a real lorry.
If you are thinking of getting involved in this type of hobby, my advise would be to attend groups like this first and get a feel for it so see if its for you. The group as a whole is really friendly and always more than happy to help those just getting started.
Would I Go Again?
Absolutely, this was a brilliant event and brought out my inner child, the location was really good only being a short drive away, and good facilities all round. Being a free event, even so, i would quite happily pay to go and see.
