Bringth the age of the AI. What do I mean about this. Well, AI has been about for years but only in the past couple of years or so is it becoming more common place in everyday life. Like anything new it can be difficult to find a purpose for it. I say this but i remember when satnavs were first becoming common place and, i, like many others, would live without them today for journeys. But even they evolved as the technology advanced. Do you need a sat nav? Not the purpose of this article, but the answer is no, a good smart phone with google or apple maps will help you out.

For years man kind has been building machines to help with every day tasks from commuting to asking more important questions within our universe and to under stand our world and universe a lot better and thanks to tech, including AI, it is really helping. We have widely adopted task easy tech, and like the humble sat nav, this is evolving too and not just in the computing field. Maybe this is down to commercial industry looking for ways to stream line processes or cut costs. Which may not be passed onto the consumer. Films about AI seem far fetched but sci fi is becoming sci reality. What do i mean about this, well, films are created and consumed by us with grand ideas and futuristic films. Terminator Dark Fate, a fairly action packed film, but what was more scary is how realistic an AI would be to win a war in robots versus humans and would AI given free reign try to wipe us all out. Yes and No. AI is only as clever as those that program AI in the first place and the data or information its been modelled on. Much like a person, depending on their life circumstances they have the option to do good or bad things and this is a very interesting question indeed. But could AI, launch a nuke and start world war 3? Potentially yes, if built in such a way to do this and by bad human beings.

You may have heard of the talk of models when it comes to AI, well this is nothing more than like a book you buy. The book can contain either factual information and fantasy. AI uses these models when answering questions the bigger the book the more detailed and bigger questions it can answer for the consumer.

This brings me on to the next point of this article and its opening wording. People are using AI to answer questions and AI might be more common place you might think. From your car to your washing machine. But you can't ask a washing machine about how to clean your car. Creators of software systems have tried to provider consumers with a means to answer those questions people are searching for. Google cottoned onto this, as did other search engine providers by promoting those results, as well as sponsored non organic links, to help people answer those questions. Well websites like chatgpt, gemini, bard, siri have been created by a software engineer in a garage somewhere with the purpose of aiding consumers to answer questions. With AI being integrated into everyday tech from your smart phone to your laptop with co pilot from Microsoft there is a more connected feel to answering those questions. Its kind of like, books, the way in which people consume books, from physical form, to digital versions and even audio versions. But how does this relate? What i am trying to say is the medium changes and they way in which we as a society expect to consume AI. The big players in the tech world are providing a different medium for users to answer their questions. From what to buy your dad for Christmas through to writing lines of code. All helping users in their daily roles and helping consumers of tech to work smarter not harder.

Within my own friend circle AI is being used to assist friends within their role. Sure the content churned out by AI is good to a certain degree, but it still needs a human being to sanity check what has been generated by the likes of AI such as ChatGPT and all of these have their own way of churching out that information some more accurate than others. Bringth the get out of jail clause. Like i said earlier, and on the whole subject of conscious intelligence you need a human factor for it to be widely intelligent, after all, without the human factor, AI would just be another machine performing calculations you need to model it on an existing form of intelligence. Human being having the second highest intelligence on the planet after dolphins and that the consumer mainly of AI is going to be humans what better than to mimic the human thought process. Again going back to the models AI uses, this may be anything from digital versions of how to become a gardener or create a new type of fuel to power the combustion engine. In the future much like the film the matrix, where you simply download new information this may be the case for those underlying models. You want an AI that can cook a fantastic recipe, then you need the chef 1.4 model downloaded into your tesla robot. Sure this sounds far off but its not. They already put chatgpt into a robots head and it was able, with a slight decision making lag, bring in quantum computing and that lag will be gone, the robot was able to make decisions about what to do next and had under standing of what it had done previously. But going back to the point of this original paragraph, how do you make a robot have intelligent well you need to make it behave more like something with intelligence in the first place human beings. So AI is bound to make mistakes the more human it becomes. But will AI ever become conscious in our understanding or human enough to show empathy? or understand itself like we try to understand our selves on a daily basis. This is a big question and yes, i think an AI could evolve this far. But would it then see us as the biggest danger to ourselves. Which if you look at the nature of human beings then yes, we are a danger to ourselves and this is what the AI eluded to in the film I Robot.

So how does this fair for the likes of chat gpt, co pilot and gemini, well they are like the less technologic grand father in the family who may remember the second world war. What I am trying to say is AI is in its later yet early years at the same time. It still faces limitation on human understanding of objects and the human language. For example, there are different spellings of words and they can mean completely different things and also in different demographics of society and there meaning of that can change. Does AI grasp this concept currently? No, as its in its limited early ages. But this may change in the future the more AI gets trained. You may have heard the term or see jobs going for training AI well its simply means you are going to tell an AI if what they answered is correct. Much like a child learns at school, taking 16 years to grow and make sense of the world. AI hasn't, at the time of writing this article, had those years of learning via simplistic methods of education. But will this change in the future, quite possible, one advantage AI has is its learning process can be sped up potentially it could learn a life time of knowledge and understanding in a fraction of the time.

But the above being said, the AI children, are being widely adopted into our every day lives and are making leaps and bounds. Like answering those all important questions, like is Norwch City ever going back into the premier league? I don't need a machine / AI to answer that. Through to being content creators creating works of art. Again much like a child, AI is finding its feet and trying to make sense of the world around it. These AI assistants some better than others have turned into an AI adoption race by the big corporations including chat gpt. What seemed like a cool new bit of tech, is limited unless to pay a subscription to unlock the benefits. Sure you could argue this goes to further development of AI, but would a consumer really be willing to pay $20 a month for what google does for free? And what more am i getting for this subscription. Again its the early days yet and each AI like chat gpt have their strengths and weaknesses but thats been like that with other areas of society and other business opportunities, like with consumerism. You as a consumer decided based on your own decision making and that of friends and family should i buy a new lawn mower from one Shop or another? What I am trying to say, in not so many words, is you will need to decide the right AI for you and more importantly what are you going to use it for will be a big decider in what AI you choose.

To conclude, i would say the use of AI is good, but make sure you choose the AI that's right for you, what you will be doing with it, especially if your going to pay a subscription to one.
